I got an interesting comment suggesting that if local churches were to work together and even share resources it would help with their reputation.
Would it make a difference to the typical outsider to see churches sharing and working together?
If they did actually make this happen what could it look like? I’ll be more specific. What would it look like – not doing christian entertainment for each other – but beyond that?
so its important to understand that redistrbution comes from community, not before community.redistribution is not a prescription for community .redistribution is a description of what happens when people fall in love with each other across class lines.when the Bible tells the story of the early church in the book of Acts,it does not say that they were of one heart and mind because they sold everything.rather, they held all in common precisely because they were of one heart and mind,as rich and poor found themselves born again into a family in which some had extra and others were desperately in need.redistrbution was not sysematically regimented but flowed naturally out of a love for God and neighbor.

even better.
what would happen if local churches got together and shared thier love and resources with the outsiders?
what if they saw the churches working together for the community, for the poor, homeless, hurting and lost.
basicly the church being the Bride of Christ that would restore the reputation even better.

yea sure it happens there are people in the church that do that.the d.o.c on international blvd. across the street from my house is a great example.
ive never fit into the mainstream church scene of pop christianity i am attracted and brought to beachside by God for a reason.and this church as we come together and focus on Christ will be and is a light on a hillside not a social club like to many churches have become and i think thats what robbies talking about up top where he said beyond christian entertainment for each other.

I’d say that without question most churches are very shy about sharing resources. Some are happy to do an event together (christian concerts etc) but nothing of real significance. I am sure that it is the exception.

There is only one church, which is the body of Christ. All Christians should function as one body and stop separating themselves. I know it is a hard concept to grasp, but I know of many Christians in localities all over the world who take a stand for this. If Beachside, Tomoka, Riverbend, Calvary, etc., stopped calling themselves A church and met just as Christians worshipping God through the crucifixtion of His Son, there would be a lampstand in Ormond Beach. These are the only beliefs we need to adhere to in order to be one:
We hold the faith which is common to all the believers:
(Titus 1:4, Jude 3)
The Bible is the complete divine revelation inspired word by word by God through the Holy Spirit
(2 Pet. 1:21, 2 Tim. 3:16)
God is uniquely one, yet triune-the Father, the Son, and the Spirit
(1 Tim. 2:5a, Matt. 28:19)
The Son of God, even God Himself, was incarnated to be a man by the name of Jesus Christ
(John 1:1, John 1:14)
Christ died on the cross for our sins, shedding His blood for our redemption
(1 Pet. 2:24, Eph. 1:7a)
Christ resurrected from among the dead on the third day
(1 Cor. 15:4)
Christ ascended to the right hand of God to be Lord of all
(Acts 1:9, Acts 2:33, Acts 2:36)
Whenever any person repents to God and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is regenerated (born again) and becomes a living member of the one Body of Christ
(Acts 20:21, John 3:3, Eph. 1:22-23, Rom. 12:5)
Christ is coming again to receive His believers to Himself
(1 Thes. 2:19)
There should not be a name on the outside of a building where Christians meet. That name ultimately divides regardless of the intention.
Please do not take my words as argumentative or agressive. I simply have a heart for the Body of Christ in Ormond Beach and pray that other saints will take a stand.
The Lord be with your spirit,
Kelly
